In addition to our location at Texas Horse Park, we have River Ranch North at Storybook Ranch in the city of McKinney. Storybook Ranch is a horseback riding and event facility offering an authentic experience of the old west with it’s own Authentic 1800's Historic Western Town right on property.
It was originally established in 1887 as a working cattle ranch. At the time, it was spread out over 600 acres. Through the years, the Ranch has gotten smaller and smaller.
It currently offers use of 80 acres of meadows, creek access and pasture land. The Shawnee Trail (trail of Tears) was where the main access road to the ranch, Custer Road, is now. Indians and settlers traveled the heavily wooded area and were able to hunt and get their water from Rowlett Creek, which never goes dry, even today.
